The crisis between Israel and Hamas continues to escalate . I know a young British Jewish lad who is serving in the Israeli army .
Just out of basic training. Hoping he is not put in the front line .

If they didn't keep p*****g-off the Palestinians, maybe they wouldn't need such a 'front line'. When they aren't encroaching on Palestinian land, building settlements etc, they're up to something else, like harassing and provoking Palestinians on the way to the Mosque.
Of course, the Palestinians predictably react in the only ways they can, by throwing stones or setting off home-made rockets. Which results in over-the-top Israeli air-strikes against the Palestinians, demolishing swathes of Gaza, conveniently eliminating a few hundred more of those troublesome Palestinians in the process.
I can't see an end to all the years of trouble, until the Israelis see sense and agree to not only end their blockade. End their illegal occupation of Palestinian land - and accept the Palestinians have a right to an independent State of their own. Btw, I'm not taking sides, just want to see fair play and peace in the region!

Gaza is ruled by Hamas a Terrorist organisation elected by Gazan's
Palestine is ruled by Fatah elected by the Palestinian people.
Fatah have delayed elections as they fear they will lose power.
Recognising Fatah and the Palestinian people in an Independent State
would be workable.
Who in their right mind would give independence to Radical Islamist Hamas?

Solving the crisis is not going to be an easy job, Israel is not the sole provocateur in all this, remember Hamas are dedicated to wiping the state of Israel off the board, the ironic side to all this is simply there was not at any time an independent state of Palestine.
Almost as usual the UK set the seeds of trouble way back in time, both sides must recognise and accept the existence of each other, plus of course behind it all we have bloody religion.

A) And I wouldn't mind betting there's more than a few Israelis, who if they could wave a magic wand and make all Palestinians vanish overnight, they would.
B) Agree completely, that's just what I'm saying. Neither side is ever going to pack up their bags and emigrate elsewhere. Both sides have to accept they're stuck with each other. Someone needs to go over there and bang a few heads together, sort out the territorial issue and make both sides behave in a civilised manner to each other!

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.
50 years of military occupation, land theft and settler colonialism is bound to create such groups.
14 children were murdered by the Israeli state today. It’s no wonder the International Criminal Court has started to investigate war crimes and other atrocities carried out under the rule of another alleged criminal Benjamin Netanyahu.

Orwell said "If there is hope, it lies in the proles." Whilst champagne socialists see diversity idealised at university, the common folk experience it first hand in their neighbour hoods.

I was watching it on the news tonight.
Seems to me there's hundreds of thousands of innocents on both sides, children dying, terror, homes lost, an absolute hell for those living there.
I don't know the tiny details, apart from this is a long standing, complex situation. But I do know that this comes from the governments. Both regarding each other as terrorists, grabbing land, lobbing missiles at each other. Let them fight it out. If the fat cats calling the shots had to face each other, they'd wet themselves.
One chap was saying that the conflict is escalating into 'mixed' areas. That civilians will attack civilians. I'd love to see those ordinary citizens standing together and saying 'enough is enough'. Because they are the ones who will pay for all this.

Peter Oborne eloquently addresses the attempts to establish equivalency between the State of Israel and the oppressed Palestinian people here:

It's not working.
Always with the oppressed never with the oppressor.

Israel stopped Hamas agitators from arriving to the Temple Mount. They came in bus loads from all over Israel to demonstrate. The police did this to stop demonstrations.. all this, unfortunately took place on the last day of Ramadan and fights took place outside the mosque.
Stone throwing at the police and things got out of hand. The perpetrators ran inside the mosque, hence causing police to follow inside.
It didn’t take long for
A full scale mayhem and stun grenades were used. ( only those there can know the full reason)
In order to gain support and alliance with Hamas,
Hamas fired rockets Willy nilly into Jerusalem. There has always been a bi-lateral ( gentleman’s) agreement not to touch Jerusalem, due to it being a sacred area for all religions.
Rockets were continued to be fired into Israeli towns close to Gaza and it escalated from there.
Israel retaliated , as the rocket destroyed homes in the suburb of Jerusalem which seriously injured the occupants.
More rockets were fired in to Israeli towns not too far from Gaza.
Then the fighting started with Israel retaliating. Warning
Hamas to reframe from firing rockets indiscriminately ..the warning went on deaf ears
Their rockets are not home made anymore ?
They are sophisticated weapons from Iran, that can travel the length and breadth of Israel.
Of course there is great sadness on both sides that innocent
women and children are hurt or killed.
The difference between these two fighting people, is that the Hamas rockets are sent indiscriminately with no precision of a military target.
Israel targets with precision, to pinpoint the rocket launching sites.
These launching sites are strategically placed on the top of tall Gaza buildings.ammunition stored on the lower floors of these buildings.
Civilians are residing in these building.
This time and all the other times Israel have warned the residents to move out of the building.
I heard this policy of notifying residents by the Israelis, verified yesterday by one of the sky reporters.
Over two thousand rockets have been fired into Israel during the past 2 days. Firing on the South and central Israel.
Nobody want this conflict to continue, but in my humble opinion, it is an open sore which will never heal.
Calculate how much money is wasted on all this destruction.
2000 rockets could give the Gaza’s community a new well needed hospital.
Unfortunatelythere is always collateral damage and this is why we should all try and work for peace.
Shippy.
There are never winners in a war, possibly in a battle that’s all.
